With sadness, we share the passing of Joan E. Cumpton of Lawrence, Kansas. Joan passed away on June 18, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Joan for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While she will be deeply missed, the influence she had on the lives around her remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. Joan’s memory will live on in the hearts of friends and family, a lasting reminder of the connections and experiences she brought to the world.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Walton Harris and Bessie Harris. She is survived by: her daughters, Karen Chipman (Bob), Vickie Buttram (Brian) and Tamara Williams (Robert); and her grandson David Cumpton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
In her honor, the family suggests donations to the Heritage Baptist Church Youth Program. Contributions can be given at the viewing, the funeral service or mailed to the church.
