It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Shelton Stevenson of Lawrence, Kansas, who passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William McKinley and Mary Katherine Swisher (Roop); her husband Leon C. Stevenson; her daughter Ella Joyce Stevenson; her grandson Leith Jon Stevenson; her brother Ronald Roop Swisher; and her son Larry Jon Stevenson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Laura Jane Craig and Kathy Jean Affalter; her grandchildren, April Holtwick (Tony), Jonathan Affalter (Sable Muntean), Brian Craig, Landon Stevenson and Larsen Stevenson (Mandy); and her great grandchildren, Summer Holtwick, Nolan Craig, Dalton Craig, Lance Stevenson, Hymalee Stevenson and Lex Stevenson.
Memorial contributions in Joan's name may be given to Lawrence Humane Society or Meals on Wheels or VNA Hospice and may be sent in care of warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
