John A. Harris Obituary
We are sad to announce that on December 9, 2025, at the age of 91, John A. Harris of Lawrence, Kansas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, J. W. Harris and Bernita Harris; his wife Janie; his sister Merlene Howell; and his siblings-in-law, Phil Howell, Dorothy Schaake and Dwane Schaake.
He is survived by: his daughter Jan; his son-in-law Tim Matlack; his grandchildren, Johnathan Matlack (Sarah Zabokrtsky) and Kelly Mayer (Adam Mayer); and his great grandchildren, Adalee Joy Mayer, Kyra Jolene Mayer and Jaxon Zabokrtsky. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Warren-Mcelwain Mortuary (120 W 13th St, Lawrence, KS 66044). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Hill Cemetery (1605 Oak Hill Ave, Lawrence, KS 66044).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Good Samaritan fund at Presbyterian Manor, or a charity of your choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
