He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Bechtel and Rose Bechtel (Wanstrath); and his siblings, Ted and Joan. He is survived by: his wife Joleen Van Rheen Miller; his stepchildren, Mike (Jean) of Ashville, NC, Mark (Bhavya) of Elburn, IL, Kathy (Kerry) of Smithville, MO and Dianne (Kevin) of Helena, MO.; and his nieces and nephews, Bruce, Eric, Kathy, Christy, Lynn and Lisa.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 14th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Arterra Event Gallery (2161 Quail Creek Dr, Lawrence, KS 66047).
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to Midland Hospice, LMH Oncology Department or the LMH Charitable Care Fund, Willow Domestic Violence Shelter, Just Food or any other charity of choice.
