He was predeceased by: his parents, James George and Genevieve Hess (Ellis); his siblings, Jerome, Phillip, Charles, Ann Ballenger and Julie Hess; and his sons, Timothy and Patrick.
He is survived by: his wife Ellen Susan "Susie" McVey; his sons, Michael (Kathleen) and Mark (Ty Fuller) of Lawrence; his grandchildren, Gretchen Hess of Chicago, IL., Scott Fuller, Seth Fuller and Spencer Fuller; and his siblings, Mary Joan Brigham of St. George and Bernard of Humboldt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Humane Society.
