He was predeceased by: his parents, Norma Lea Curry and Lloyd Theodore Shafer. He is survived by: his wife Patti Dickinson of Lawrence; his children, Miriam Numata (Ako) of Joplin and Michael Heron Lee of Oskaloosa; and his siblings, Melinda Huston (John) of Lawrence, Kevin Shafer (Dori) of Pleasant Hill, CA and Karen Johnson (Don) of Iowa City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
