She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray Helmer and Carolyn Helmer (Jamica). She is survived by: her brother Charles Helmer (Lawrence); and her nephews, Jason of Prague, Charles (Jessica) of Lawrence and Kevin (Megan) of Topeka. She is also survived by five grandnieces and grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Susan's name to the Lawrence Humane Society or National Education Society.
