He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mabon and Annabelle Mabon; and his brother Michael Mabon. He is survived by: his siblings, Aaron J. Mabon, Sr. (Cynthia), Mozella M. Mabon of Gardner, KS and Ester J. Ross of Austin, TX; and his children, Denise M. Blackwell-Griggsby of Bowling Green, MO, Dennis Blackwell (Cynthia) of Springfield, IL, Larry Mabon of Kansas City, MO. and Lorne Mabon of Kansas City, MO.. He is also survived by Great-Great Grandchildren and a host on nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Local 627, African American Union (now known as the Mutual Musician's Foundation) in Kansas City, MO.

““To my Beloved and Cherished Brother”, Clyde MABON. Brother I told you that Aaron had put you in Hospice and took your Feeding Tube Out because he didn’t want to deal with Medicaid. Clyde this was on Friday and I asked you to Please Hold On Until Monday. I told you that I would go to Court get the POA revoked and get you out of there. We said I could call the Union and take his name off of everything. I begged and pleaded for you to hold on, “BUT MONDAY NEVER CAME”! I WILL NEVER FORGET!”
