She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Caton and Lona Caton (Rice); her siblings, Bertha, Earl, Theresa, Walter, Rosemary, Elizabeth (Rita) and Sueanne; her husband John P. Groves; her daughter Virginia (Jeannie); and her grandson Matthew.

She is survived by: her children, Lona Prescott of Shawnee, KS and John P. Groves, Jr. (Teresa) of Leavenworth, KS; her grandchildren, Natalie Merritt (Travis) of Kansas City, Jeanette Gilles of Athens, GA, Pandora Peterman (Eric) of Kansas City, KS and Vanessa Ichrist (Chris) of Grandview, MO; and her great grandchildren, Alexander Gilles of Athens, GA, Anthony Gilles of Athens, GA, Aiden Gilles of Athens, GA, Ami Kessinger of Grandview, MO, Ayden Ontiveros, Keil Coffey and Meka Merritt of Kansas City, MO.. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Davis Funeral Chapel (531 Shawnee St, Leavenworth, KS 66048). A burial will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at the National Cemetery Ft. Leavenworth (150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048).

Memorials may be given to Monarch Hospice of Kansas, Sisters of Charity Leavenworth KS, St. Patricks' Catholic Church, Kansas City, KS or to a charity of the donor's choice.
