With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph J. Mooney Jr. of Leavenworth, Kansas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 11, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Jasper Sr. and Aquilla Mooney (Miller); and his sisters, Lucy McNeill and Margaret Littlejohn. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Jasper Mooney, III of Liberty, Tiffany Mooney of Houston and Deven Mooney of Lenexa, Kan.; his brother Toney Mooney of Hampton; his grandchildren, Aaliyah Atkins, Christopher Gomez, Imani Mooney, Maia Mooney, Alexis Grayson and Audriana Grayson; and his close friend Madge White. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home (4701 10th Ave, Leavenworth, KS 66048). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Bethel A. M. E. Church (411 Kiowa St, Leavenworth, KS 66048).
