As we bid adieu to Joy's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Joy has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Owens and Lelia Owens (Pogue). She is survived by: her husband Jacob S. Defrees Jr.; and her children, Jacob III Defrees (Linda Lee), Timothy L. Defrees (Mary) and Trudy Holyfield (Marlin). She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church.
