With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Thomas James Young of Leawood, Kansas, born in Inglewood, California, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Thomas left this world on December 5, 2025 at the age of 88, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Young and Lena Young; his brothers, Robert and John Young; and his son Seth Andrew Young.
He is survived by: his children, Paul S. Young (Mary) of Minneapolis, MN and Dr. Rachel E. Runde (Eric) of Kansas City, MO; his grandchildren, Oscar and Ingrid Young; and his pet Luna. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McGilley State Line Chapel (12301 State Line Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 at 8:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Ashland Cemetery (2324 Ashland Ave, St Joseph, MO 64506).
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations are made in Thomas' s name to the KC Pet Project, 7077 Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64132.
