He was predeceased by: his parents, Marcelino Gavilán Bustos and Ema Benimelis Cisterna; his wife Flor "Margarita" Gavilán; and his sister Marta Gavilán Cisterna. He is survived by: his siblings, Fernando Gavilán Cisterna, Sonia Gavilán Cisterna, Eduardo Gavilán Cisterna, Pedro Gavilán Cisterna and María Gavilán Cisterna. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
