He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Kearns and Nettie Kearns; his siblings, Ruth Rittel and Ernest Kearns; and his wife Darlene.
He is survived by: his son David of Iowa City; and his niece Diana Gehring (Kathi Ebner) of Concordia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
