He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Spellman and Irma Spellman (Peterson); his brother Wayne Spellman; and his brother-in-law Jim Assink. He is survived by: his wife Marva Spellman of Lyons, KS; his children, Brent Spellman (Sheila Schaut) of Gypsum, KS and Kristen Marsh (Tim) of Vine Grove, KY; his sister Gail Assink of Lynden, WA; his sister-in-law Sue Spellman of Lawrence, KS; his grandchildren, Brittany Rossell (Wyatt) of Radcliff, KY, Shane Yates (Alysha) of Vine Grove, KY, Brandon Spellman of Bennington, KS and Logan Spellman of Salina, KS; and his great grandchildren, Noah Rossell, Lucas Rossell, Jack Yates and Henry Yates.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Birzer Funeral Home (214 West Ave S, Lyons, KS 67554). A rosary was held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul Catholic Church (1205 S Douglas Ave, Lyons, KS 67554). The military honors was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Knights of Columbus Council #7422 in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
