He is survived by: his mother Anna Marie Beasterfeld Gehring; his wife Patricia Damron; his children, Stacy Walstrom, Katie Custer, Adrianne Gehring, Darcie Merwin and David J. Gehring, Jr.; and his siblings, Annie Moore, JoAnn Payton, Matthew Gehring, Joey Gehring and Tim Gehring. He is also survived by six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and a community of friends.
