The memory of Dixie Braden of Manhattan, Kansas, who passed away on September 26, 2025 at the age of 94, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. As we bid Dixie farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Dixie is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Chapman and Verla Chapman (Hansen); her husband Gailen Braden; and her sister Betty Hahn. She is survived by: her children, Jerry (Deb Braden) of Manhattan, Rick (Doretta Braden) of Manhattan, Teresa Spellman (Mark) of Clay Center and Dennis (Joni) of Manhattan, Kansas; and her sister Barbara Copeland. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home (918 7th St, Clay Center, KS 67432). A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Wakefield United Methodist Church (921 5th St, Clay Center, KS 67432).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Meadowlark Foundation or the Wakefield Museum and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
