It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen T. Ancona in Manhattan, Kansas, who passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Helen has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alma I. Tompkins Burrow and Glenn A. Tompkins (Thomas D.); and her half-brother William C. Burrow, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Tom; her sons, Thomas D. Ancona, Jr. (Donna) and John C. Ancona (F. Warren Quarles); her grandchildren, Chelsea Ancona (Michael Cushwa) and James Ancona; and her friend Sue Bengert.
To honor our mother's extraordinary legacy of cooking, her love for animals, books and children, in lieu of sending flowers, bake a batch of cookies for a friend, feed a hungry animal or take a moment to read a story to a child.
