We are sad to announce that on May 7, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Thomas J. Whalen of Manhattan, Kansas. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his daughter Molly Nick; his son-in-law Chris Nick; his grandchildren, Tyler and Allie; his brother Pat Whalen; his sister-in-law Peggy; his sister Kathy Whalen; his brother-in-law Joe McCarthy; his nieces and nephews, Tim Whalen, Brian Whalen (Sarah Whalen), Katie Whalen, Kallie McCarthy and Jennifer Otis; his sister Joan Otis; his parents, John Whalen and Jane Whalen (McAuliffe); and his wife Mary Veronica King (Ronnie).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home (1616 Poyntz Ave, Manhattan, KS 66502). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 13th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location. Tom's community activity was varied and extensive, including United Way board member and president, RSVP advisory board member, Riley County Community Corrections advisory board, UFM board member, Planning Board member and Chair, City of Manhattan youth soccer and softball coach, as well as, coaching a Little Apple Soccer team for several years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The University of Kansas Health System, Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice or Flint Hills Breadbasket.
