He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Holst and Lorinda Holst (Wasserman); and his wife Nancy Holst (Crawford) of Paul's Lutheran Church. He is survived by: his children, Kristi Smith (Gregg) of Utila, Adam Holst of Odell, Dustin Holst of Leesburg, Kat Jackson (Brandon) of St. Peters and Andrew Holst (Jordan) of Diller; and his siblings, Larry Holst (Sharon) of Independence, Ron Holst (Dianne) of Odell, Nebraska, Judy Krause (Steve) of Odell and Vickie Barnard (Dave) of Beatrice, Nebraska.. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dennis Holst Memorial Fund at the Marysville church of Christ with the funeral home in charge.
