She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Friess and Martha Friess (Bergkamp); her husband Gene Metzen; and her siblings, Leroy, Paul Friess, Jeanette Hilger and Betty Rausch.

She is survived by: her children, Judy Ternes (Tom) of Wichita, Kansas, Debbie Heasty (Daryl) of Mayfield, Kansas, Diane Serrioz (Andy) of Wellington, Kansas, Jeanie Brotherton (Rick) of Wichita, Kansas, Steve Metzen (Jamie) of Mayfield, Kansas, Joan Miller (Dean) of Wichita, Kansas and Kristie Nedbalek (Troy) of Wichita, Kansas; and her siblings, Darlene Haukap, Doris Friess and Ron Friess (Kim). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
