Though Robert may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Robert touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his mother Ruth Anne Harding (Cline); and his sisters, Sharon Combs, Tammy Jo Driscoll and Rosie Hargrove. He is survived by: his children, Tiffany Smith of Tonganoxie, KS, Robert A. Smith (Amanda) of Topeka, KS, Ryan Smith (Cassie) of Hiawatha, KS and Derek Peterson (Ashley) of Baldwin City, KS; and his sisters, Jeannie Kimes of Tuscon, AZ, Caroline Gardner of Winter Haven, FL and Edna Brubaker of Lawrence, KS. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Barnett Family Funeral Home (1220 Walnut St, Oskaloosa, KS 66066). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the McLouth First Baptist Church (501 S Union St, McLouth, KS 66054). The military honors will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Leavenworth V. A. National Cemetery.
