He was predeceased by: his parents, Vern Petersen and Mary Etta Petersen (Higginbotham); his brother William "Bill"; his sister-in-law Mary Petersen; his brother Jerry "Pete" Petersen; his brother-in-law Dave Koehn; his nephews, Mark Koehn and Marty Koehn; and his great-niece Heidi Unruh.
He is survived by: his children, Patrick Petersen of Pratt, KS, Misty Peterson (Dusty) of Topeka, KS and Tyler Petersen (Chelsey) of Moundridge, KS; his siblings, Leroy "Butch" Petersen (Grace) of McPherson, KS and Karen Koehn of McPherson, KS; and his grandchildren, Audrey Petersen, Axton Petersen, Andrew Peterson, Joseph Peterson, Rachel Peterson, Sarah Peterson, Ember Petersen and Colter Petersen. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stockham Family Funeral Home (205 N Chestnut St, McPherson, KS 67460). The military honors will be held on Monday, August 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the McPherson Cemetery (1601 Cemetery Dr, McPherson, KS 67460).
Memorial donations can be given to the McPherson American Legion Post #24 in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
