He was predeceased by: his parents, Vern Petersen and Mary Etta Petersen (Higginbotham); his brother William "Bill"; his siblings-in-law, Mary Petersen and Dave Koehn; his nephews, Mark Koehn and Marty Koehn; and his great-niece Heidi Unruh.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara Petersen-Hurd (CW Hurd) of McPherson, KS and Rayleen Layfield (Todd) of Canton, KS; his grandchildren, Cassandra Rose (Nick), Joleta Petersen (Jeff Silhan), Jaidn Jay Petersen and Daltn Layfield; his great grandchild Skarlyt Petersen; and his siblings, Leroy "Butch" Petersen (Grace) of McPherson, KS, Benny Petersen of McPherson, KS and Karen Koehn of McPherson, KS. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stockham Family Funeral Home (205 N Chestnut St, McPherson, KS 67460). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the New Hope Evangelical Church (501 Wickersham Dr, McPherson, KS 67460).
