He was predeceased by : his parents, Jake Rutz and Valene Rutz (James); and his siblings, Bill, Wayne, Kay, Betty, Gloria and Carol.

He is survived by : his daughter Julie Ann (Barry Nelson); his wife Emma Beth of Minneapolis, KS; and his children, Libby (Dwayne Brown), Steve Rutz of Goodland, KS and Teresa (Eric Jaquez).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be made to New Basel Church in Abilene, KS or the Living Cornerstone Church in Delphos, KS and may be left in care of the funeral home.
