He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Baker and Ina Baker (Smith); his son Kenny Baker; his grandson Doug Cain; and his sister Norma Lee Johnson.
He is survived by: his former wife Evelyn Liby; his wife Marilyn Breneman Smith; his children, Darla Cain-Karst (Sam), Sandra Hendrix (Kenny), Mike Smith (Kim), Mark Smith (Kellea) and Marvin Smith; and his grandchildren, Matt Villalpando, Devon Hart (Dan), Mark Cain (Sarah), Jessica Owens (Tyrel), Kassi Jones (Scott), Sheyanne Krier (Alijah), Zach Smith (Lauren Cyr), Drew Smith (Fayth), Alyssa Breen (Garrett), Trevor Smith (Nikki), Amanda Ervin (Derek) and James Villalpando (Cait). He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Minneapolis Fire Department and be left in care of the funeral home.
