Lawrence (Larry) Frank Lawrukiewicz, 72, died Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Wichita, Kansas. He was born on December 13, 1948, to Frank A. Lawrukiewicz and Stella V. Kaminski at St. Margaret Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. Larry attended St. Joseph School from Kindergarten through the Eighth Grade. He was a 1966 graduate of Wyandotte High School, Kansas City, KS. Larry entered the United States Marines in 1968. He was honorably discharged. Larry had several jobs including the following: Wyandotte County District Magistrate Court; Steel Mills: Grady Foundries, Norwich, KS; Ferroby Foundry; KTLC; Sedgwick County Sheriff Reserves as a Lieutenant; Wesley Hospital Security; Caldwell Police Department; St. Francis Police Sergeant and Meade County Sheriff Deputy. Larry retired from the Meade County Sheriff's Department in 2012.
Larry had a great talent in drumming. He enjoyed listening to the 60's, 70's, and 80's music. After he retired he reunited with the first band he ever played in called Bold New Breed. The reunion was awesome. They picked up where they left off! Larry played with several groups including the following: Country Cousins; Let 'R Buck; Catfish Cowboys; The Classic Cowboys; Branded and South Central Express.
Larry was a life member in the National Rifle Association; a member of the American Legion and Kansas Police Officer Association.
Larry met the love of his life, in January, 2010. Larry and Judith Kay Stevens Bailey were married in Dodge City, Kansas on May 11, 2018. Surviving Larry are his wife of the home; sister Barbara Huerter and husband Eugene of Overland Park, KS, nephews Michael Huerter (Sheryl); Mark Huerter (Lysbeth); Matthew Huerter (Whitney); and niece Melanie Lundholm (Kirk). Also surviving him are a host of great nieces and nephews He is also survived by two brother-in-laws: John Stevens of Ashland, KS and Joe Stevens of Montezuma, KS; a sister-in-law, Cyndi Stevens Cox of Carthage, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a host of other family members.
