He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Howard and Valeda Howard; his children, Scott Howard and Michele Dixon; and his great grandchild Madeline Shinkle.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Louise Howard; his grandchildren, Noel O'Kane (Shawn) and Ashton Dotterer; his great grandchildren, Mathew Shinkle, Michael Shinkle, Easton O'Kane, Ashtyn O'Kane, Peyton O'Kane, Kieran Foster, Kody Foster and Kennadie Spellins; and his great great grandchild Hudsyn Shinkle.

Memorial donations will be made out to the Samaritan's Purse International Relief in remembrance of Shelby Duane Howard.
