He was predeceased by: his parents, Elby Tackett and Alta Tackett (Hoover); his spouse Jereline Summers; and his siblings, Wallace Tackett and LaWanda Tackett.

He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Tackett and Susan Gehrer (Nick); and his grandchildren, Mallory Gehrer and Brody Gehrer.

Memorials may be made to the New Hope Shelter and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
