He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Christensen and May Christensen. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Ruth Ayers; his children, Geoffrey Christensen (Marcene Carstensen), Gina Christensen (Mitch Neuenschwander), Gera Regier (Steve) and Jay Christensen (Amy Ludwa); his grandchildren, Ryan Winsler (Nicole Stoecklein), Dustin Leite and Sarah Tauiliili (Peivi); and his great grandchildren, Jordyn, Hudson and Benjamin Tauiliili.

Memorials have been designated to Christ Lutheran Church-Stained Glass Window Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
