He was predeceased by: his parents, John Penner and Augusta Penner (Schroeder); his wife Carol Sue Fluke; his sisters, Bernice and Evelyn Penner Smith; his brother-in-law Leroy Smith; his brothers, Vernon and John Henry; his sister-in-law Dolores Penner; his brother Frank; his siblings-in-law, Jerry Smith, Darlene "Jo" Androes and Jim Paulson; and his daughter-in-law Tanya Penner.
He is survived by: his sons, Mike (Bob), Tom, Jefferey Todd (Cindy) and Craig; his grandchildren, Jonathon and Anyssa (David); and his siblings, Lucille Penner Smith and Max (Joan).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society or Newton American Legion Post #2, and left in care of Petersen Family Funeral Home.
