It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvia J. Barnes (Newton, Kansas), who passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rodney Hanson and Eleanor Hanson (Zetye); and her sister Priscilla. She is survived by: her husband Jerry Barnes; her sons, John (Leah) and Eric (Dawn); her grandchildren, Emily, Jack, Haven, Olivia (Jonah) and Callah; and her sister Ellen (Dan).
The family requests no flowers be sent. In lieu, please consider donating to the Disabled American Veterans, a group that was important to Sylvia and Jerry.
