He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtle Wenger and Herman Wenger; his former wife Cleta Gilbert; his daughter-in-law Cindy Wenger; his siblings, Clifford Wenger, Marion Wenger and Estella Waldo of Oberlin, Kansas; his siblings-in-law, Helen Wenger, Wayne Harris and Lee Waldo; and his great grandchildren, Corey Ryan, Lori Ann and Austin Lee Cook.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Norbert Wenger of Chesapeake and Judy Wenger of Oberlin, Kansas; his stepchildren, Doug Deterding (Denise) of Cambridge and Sharon Meissner (David) of McCook, Nebraska; his sister-in-law Eunice Wenger of Fort Morgan, Colorado; his granddaughters, Crystal Cook (Todd) of Oberlin and Robin Hansen of Topeka, Kansas; and his great grandchildren, Dakota, Quinton, Shakira Cook of Oberlin, Caden and Cierra Hansen of Topeka, Kansas. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
