He was predeceased by: his parents, Maude Catherine and Lewis Asher; and his sister Jean Herbst (Eugene). He is survived by: his wife Jan; his daughter Tracie Stanton (Jim); his brother Larry (Debbie); and his grandchildren, Grady Stanton, Clara Duncan (Mary) and Isaac Stanton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
