She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Vernon and Lucille Hortense Thoms; her husband Edwin Colson; and her sister Vida Thoms. She is survived by: her son Ed Colson (Judy); her sister Beverly Rainwater; her grandchildren, Amanda Williams (Chad), Jessica Adell (Joel), Matt Kelley (Katlyn), Ed Colson and Andy Kelley (Jess); and her great great grandchildren, Allie and Joshua.

The family requests that donations made in memory of Doris' life be sent to Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe with the proceeds going to the church's Young Energetic Seniors (YES) program.
