He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas J. Steel Sr. and Hazel Annabelle Steel (Wideman); and his siblings, Bessie, Josephine (Hillis), Thomas Joseph Jr., Kenneth Ray, Lloyd Jack, Emery Lesley and James Edward.
He is survived by: his sisters, Darlene (Hammers) and Julie Loretta (Kennard); and his niece Katrina Simms (Irene Tinsley).
