With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Duane F. Schmidt of Olpe, Kansas, who passed away on December 22, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Joseph and Ida Anne Schmidt (Sterbenz); and his siblings, Clarence, Kenneth, Larry Schmidt, Leonarda Nuessen, Donita Simmons and Corrine Cole Frizell.
He is survived by: his children, Christopher Schmidt (Jennifer) of Olpe, Kansas, Janel Burenheide (Bob) of Emporia, Kansas, Jeanine Guthrie (Jerry) of Emporia, Kansas and Jelinda Watts (Dave) of Emporia, Kansas; his siblings, Daniel Schmidt of Emporia, Lillian Spellman of Emporia and Ida Lynn Haag of Topeka, Kansas; his grandchildren, Travis Guthrie, Justin Burenheide (Jennifer), Kelsey Peterman (Tyler), Ryker Schmidt and Damon Schmidt; his great grandchildren, Alex Guthrie and Ben Guthrie; and his family Duane.
