Arlie Laverna Stewart Obituary
Arlie Laverna "Hillbilly" Stewart, 55, of Ottawa, KS passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 22, 2025 at his home in Ottawa, KS.
He was born June 8, 1970, in Fayetteville (Fort Bragg), North Carolina and grew up in the Burlingame, KS area where he learned how to farm and grew to love it at a young age thanks to his grandpa Arlie Hallowell and grandpa Robert Anderson. He excelled at sports during school and graduated from Ottawa High School. In 1989, he was married and had three wonderful children by his former spouse. Over the years he owned his own construction company, worked side jobs doing remodeling and was a truly talented handyman.
On February 19, 2023, at Crosspointe Community Church in Ottawa, KS he was joined in marriage to his beloved wife Julie Ann by Pastor Michael Schooley.
Along with spending time at home with his wife and his dog, Bella, he enjoyed riding his Harley around Ottawa and the surrounding area, hanging out with friends, and spending time with his pride and joy, his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He was a very hard worker, a loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who really knew him. A rough exterior hid a heart of gold. If you were on his fighting side, there was a reason.
Arlie is survived by his father, Glenn Lee Stewart, and his mother, Connie Sue Hallowell. He was preceded in death by the man he considered his father, Bruce Lane Sr.
Surviving immediate family include his wife, Julie Ann Stewart; a son, Blaine Stewart and his wife Sarah; a daughter, Kaylind Zimmerman and her husband Andrew; and a son, Little Arlie "Bubba" Stewart; four grandchildren, Olivia and Laikyn Zimmerman, and Weston and Karsen Stewart.
Surviving siblings are Bruce Lane Jr. and his wife Teresa of Lyndon, KS; Michelle Fesenmeyer of Topeka, KS; Kathryn Snover and her husband Dustin of Ottawa, KS; Linda Marshall of Topeka, KS; and Toni Hartpence of Wichita, KS.
A Celebration of Life gathering for Arlie will be pending on a future date.
