He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest G. "Ernie" and Blanche Thompson (Sheperd); and his sister Naomi Harms. He is survived by: his wife Peggy A. Mundy; and his sons, Chad Thompson (Roxie) of Pomona, Mark Thompson (Amy) of Williamsburg and Jon Thompson (Tammy) of Ottawa. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mr. Thompson will lie in state from 4:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Dengel & Son Mortuary where family and friends may pay their respects staying in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions.
