He was predeceased by: his parents, William Maechtlen and Mary Maechtlen; and his brother Charles Maechtlen. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Maechtlen; his daughters, Marla (Bill Scott) and Heidi (Sam Valenzuela); his sisters, Joan Fleming and Joyce Freeman; and his grandson Gabriel Valenzuela. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
