She was predeceased by: her husband James Joseph Carey; her parents, Ewald Hopfinger and Magdalene Hopfinger; her sister Doris Mingucci (Arthur); and her siblings-in-law, Jeanne Hopfinger, David Carey (Patricia), Laura McCully (John) and Robert Eugene Carey.
She is survived by: her brother Frank Hopfinger (Barbara); her siblings-in-law, Millie Carey and Ramey Carey (Kathy); her children, Stephen Carey (Kelly), Susan Haldeman (David), Sharon Fanning (Scott) of Shawnee, KS and Shawn Carey (Diane) of Holden, MO.; her grandchildren, Steffan Haldeman (Kristina), Joseph Carey (Emily Tonsfeldt), Jordan Haldeman (Danielle), Laura Carey, Jonathan Carey, Samuel Carey, Emily Crance (Andrew), Christa Gould (Kyle) and Matthew Fanning (Maggie); and her great grandchildren, Skyla Haldeman, Liam Haldeman, Quinn Haldeman, Nova Haldeman, Leo Tonsfeldt, Will Tonsfeldt, Jude Haldeman, Greyson Gould and Isla Fanning. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
