He was predeceased by: his parents, George Roy Hunter and Bertha Isabell Brazel Hunter; his son Kent; his wife Sylvia; and his granddaughter Lucritia Johnson.

He is survived by: his son Michael (Sherry); his daughter-in-law Susan Hunter; his grandchildren, Michael Hunter Jr., Allison Johnson, Thomas Hunter, Kent Hunter II, Kerry Clemetson and Amy Murray; and his sister Mary Booth. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
