He was predeceased by: his parent Marion Etwein. He is survived by: his wife Julia Schaaf; his children, Jill Schaaf of Chicago, IL and James Schaaf of Overland Park, KS; and his grandsons, Christopher Schaaf and Graham Schaaf.

A special thank you to the people at Care Haven Homes in Prairie Village, KS for their loving care and support during his fight with Alzheimer's Disease.
