It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rex G. Swartz Sr. of Overland Park, Kansas, born in Alta Vista, Kansas, who passed away on January 20, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Kathi; his parents, Floyd Swartz and Clarice Swartz; and his brother Don. He is survived by: his children, Lynn Sweeney (Stuart) of Linwood, KS, Lori Hinnen (David) of Towanda, KS and Rex Swartz II (Brittney) of Prairie Village, KS.; his stepsons, Leland Green of Wichita and Lance Green of Rose Hill; his grandchildren, Matthew Jorgensen (Meghan), Jacob Sweeney, Maggie Swartz, Anita Cerney (Kendall), Amanda Hinnen, Andy Sweeney, Oscar Swartz, AJ Hinnen (Summer) and Libby Sweeney; his great grandchildren, Maddox and Miller Jorgensen; and his stepgrandchildren, Adrianna, Nate and Tyler Green. He is also survived by friends, and nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID restrictions Family only graveside service held on Thursday the 28th of January at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Rex's honor to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care. 1500 Meadow Lake PKWY STE 200.

“Our sympathies to the family of Rex. He was a resident here at Park Place Condominiums, a past member of the HOA board, and will be missed by all of us. I am a fairly new resident here, but while watering grass in the courtyard this last summer, I spent hours visiting with Rex while he stood up on his deck. He spoke lovingly of his family, his days at the car dealerships, mostly Salina, his history. I miss our conversations. With Deepest Sympathy, Anne Bayless Park Place HOA Board”
