He was predeceased by : his parents, Marion Wheat and Margaret Wheat (Molloy); and his brothers, Bob Wheat and Ed Wheat. He is survived by : his wife Pauline; his children, Dr. Wendy Walker (Brady) of Mulvane, Jeff Wheat (Julie Williams) of Shawnee, David Wheat (Karen) of Parsons and Neal Wheat of Weir; and his grandchildren, Madison McDonald (Lachlan), Brandon Wheat, Ethan Wheat, Aidan Wheat, Landon Wheat, Josie Walker and Reid Walker.

A rosary was held on Wednesday, May 15th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home (112 N 26th St, Parsons, KS 67357). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, May 16th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patirck's Catholic Church (1807 Stevens Ave, Parsons, KS 67357).
