With sadness, we share the passing of Nellie Bowers Goepfert of Perry, Kansas. Nellie Bowers, born on June 22, 1933, passed away on September 28, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Vane Phillip and Inez Susan Bowers (Matlock); her husband Melvin Ekstein Goepfert; and her siblings, Lloyd, George, Elwood, Jimmy Bowers, Lucille Stagg, Marguerite Tooley, Elizabeth Boyle and Gertie Rufkahr.
She is survived by: her children, Elva Goepfert of Beebe, AR, Mary Perkins (Bill) of Lawrence, KS, Al Goepfert (Beta) of Perry, KS, Glen "Cricket" Goepfert (Karen) of Marysville, KS and Sam Goepfert (Kathy) of Great Bend, KS. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the St. Theresa Catholic Church (209 E 3rd St, Perry, KS 66073). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at the Buster Cemetery (4580 Nemaha Rd, Perry, KS 66073).
