Effie Ellen Toney Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Effie Ellen Toney of Pittsburg, Kansas, who passed away on June 21, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Sweet and Alice Sweet (Harris); her daughter Meletta Ann Toney; her brother Jim Sweet; and her half-siblings, David, Larry Harris and Charolette Houseworth.
She is survived by: her husband Larry Toney; her children, Stan Trytek of Girard, KS, John Trytek of Okinawa, Larry Toney (Michelle) of Iola, KS, Howard Toney (Staci) of Frontenac, KS and Deta Brunch (Robert) of Franklin, KS; her sisters, Patsy Stoddard of Nevada and Bess Strukel of Girard, KS; and her half-sister Johnnie K. Rhea of Wichita, KS. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be given to VFW in La Harpe, KS, or SEK Humane Society.
