With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Stephen Harmon of Pittsburg, Kansas, born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on December 26, 2020 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Harmon (Jim) and Alice Harmon (Jameton); and his former wife Bintou Traore Harmon. He is survived by: his wife Olive L. Sullivan; his stepmother Esperanza "Hope" Harmon of El Paso, TX; his children, Cyrus Harmon (Amy) of Bolinas, CA, James Harmon (Paulina Kostrzewski) of Honolulu, HI, Mariam Kante of Wichita, KS, Frank Abshire (Angel) of Pittsburg, KS and Jacob Abshire (Patricia) of Aurora, CO; his brother James "Buck" Harmon of Kelowna; his nieces and nephews, Erik Olsen (Stacy) of San Antonio, TX, Travis Harmon of Dover, CA, Rebecca Olsen (Roberto Mavilla) of Giogalto, Charlotte and Oliver Neaves of Edinburgh; and his grandchildren, Mark Harmon, Olivia Harmon, Zoe Frederick, Victoria Snyder, Greenleaf Abshire, Ashlynn Abshire and Skylar Reis.
He earned a grant to internationalize the curriculum at Pittsburg State that helped lay the foundation for Pittsburg State's PSU in Paraguay program, part of the Kansas Paraguay Partnership.
