It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wanda Jean Fox of Plains, Kansas, who passed away on September 8, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Wanda departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Wanda may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Wanda leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Smid and Gladys Smid (Pierson); her husband Guy Vincent Fox; and her siblings, Gerald, Jack, Joe Smid, Arlene Wright and Merle Wilkerson.
She is survived by: her son Ron of Plains; and her brother Jim Smid of Portales. She is also survived by two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
