We are sad to announce that on October 9, 2020, at the age of 82, Dean Schmidt of Potwin, Kansas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Alfred Schmidt and Alma Schmidt (Boese); his wife Vera June Unruh; and his brother Warren. He is survived by : his son Jim Schmidt (Andrea Smalley) of Nora, Illinois; his grandsons, Mike Banghart (Holly) and Andrew Banghart; his great grandchild Clarrisa Banghart; and his siblings, Clinton Schmidt (Kathleen) of Brainerd, Alfred "Toby" Schmidt, Jr. (Shirley) of Whitewater, Kansas, Helen Russell of Newton, Carrie Gutscher of Newton and Esther "Jeannie" Koehn of Lamar, Missouri..

Kathy Poling wrote a sympathy message

“We were very sorry to hear of Dean's passing. We know he had struggled with heath issues for many years. We fished with Dean at the Eureka City heated dock many times and enjoyed listening to the many stories of him helping others while out-fishing all the rest of us for crappie!
